This fortified medieval manor house sits adjacent to the ruins of the 12th century original castle, and is known in the region as the "Chateau d'Ucel". It has been mainly renovated since 1987, using the best materials, as in the days when it was built, and the best craftsman, "la règle de l'art". There are still parts that remain to be renovated.
The manor has its own entrance road, up a sharply climbing lane, and it sits proudly above the Ardèche valley. From behind you can walk out into the medieval part of this village, set amongst the ruins of the former castle. It is a great tourist area.
There are currently five bedrooms, but there is scope for increasing these, and also for using part of the house either as B and B, or creating a separate gite..or two. There is a pretty interior courtyard, a lovely pool area, a garage and private parking.
In Aubenas you have all facilities...secondary schools and primary schools, hospital, medical services, a vibrant city centre with restaurants and cafés, and supermarkets. You are just 45 minutes by car from the A7 motorway, and around two hours from the ski resorts in the southern Alps.
