The town is located in Valdera in Central Tuscany between Pisa and Florence. This colourful landscape of rolling hills is dotted with medieval villages, castles and lanes flanked with tall dark green cypress trees which epitomise the Tuscan landscape. The medieval village is set around a pretty piazzas with little cobbled lanes and has a great selection of coffee bars, shops, restaurants, a chemist and a bank. Chianni is set in the heart of Tuscany amid beautiful scenery and it is an ideal base for exploring the cultural cities of Tuscany. There are also several vineyards with wine tasting and hills covered in olive trees making some of the best local olive oil. The little town is perched on a hill with splendid views over the valley below.

The area is scattered with historical towns and medieval villages, castles and country churches and a landscape with golden meadows of wheat, vineyards, olive groves and fields of sunflowers. Meandering through the countryside of Valdera you feel the vestiges of the mysterious Etruscan civilization. It is here that Andrea Boccelli, the famous tenor, was born and bred and it is in the heart of Valdera in Lajatico that he created the famous Teatro del Silenzio (the Theatre of Silence) where the natural landscape creates a breathtaking setting and in the summer months some of the biggest international names in opera and music come for a special annual performance.

Casciana Terme, just 5 kms away, has thermal waters and spa facilities and is a pretty town with piazzas and cafès serving the local wine. The città d’arte (cities of art) close by include Volterra, San Gimignano, Palaia and Florence.The picturesque beaches of Castiglioncello and Cecina on the Tyrrhenian coast, the golf courses of Pisa and Castelfalfi, and the remains of Etruscan and historic towns such as Volterra are all within a 30 minutes drive.
