This lovely detached stone farmhouse, dating from 1789, has been in the owner's family for many years, but is now completely renovated. The farmhouse is in a tiny hamlet, near Malons et Elze, where there is a restaurant open all year . There are two or three farmhouses, and a couple of other houses, in the hamlet, which is three kilometres off the main road, but quite accessible (except if it snows!). Villefort, a large tourist area with a lake, is just 10 kilometres away, and Les Vans, a beautiful medieval town with a renowned Saturday market, is 18 kilometres away. Here you are in the heart of the Cévennes countryside.
The house is on two levels. There are three bedrooms, two dressing rooms, and a bathroom on the first floor, and a porch, kitchen, sitting room (with mezzanine used as an office) and dining room on the ground floor. The furthest part of the farmhouse has been converted into an independent gite, with its own entrance, large farmhouse kitchen, with large open chimney, and two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. This could, of course, become an integral part of the main house. In addition, there are three cellars, a "clède" (stone building originally used for drying chestnuts, a shed, and a covered parking space.
The water used in the house, for drinking and all other uses, is free...the farmhouse owns all rights to the water source, and it is tested regularly. There is high speed Internet (the service was recently modernised and works extremely well) and of course electricity.
