Overview
The Mount Stewart Hotel is a luxury hotel based in Dumfries & Galloway, having been under our client’s ownership since 2003.
Also included in the business are ten self-catering units spread across four locations: Apartment 19, The Fairways, 47 Military Drive and the Harbourside apartments.
Mount Stewart Hotel
Based in the heart of Portpatrick village, The Mount Stewart Hotel is a luxury hotel with ten self-catering units. On South Crescent the hotel has six rooms, with views across the Irish Sea. Rooms offered include the four deluxe suites with sea views: Buchanan, Cameron, MacDonald and Wallace. Renovated to an excellent standard, these rooms have been modernised with some of the original features such as cornices and ceiling roses preserved. These rooms include a mix of walk-in showers and baths. Other rooms available include the deluxe suite with side sea view and a period-style standard double en-suite. The hotel also offers a mini spa with a hot tub and sauna.
The Mount Stewart Hotel also has two dining rooms, The Belvedere and The Portrie. Previously two separate dining areas, these have recently been updated with two glass partitions to create a sense of unity across the restaurant. As you enter to the left, the Belvedere Restaurant welcomes you. With panoramic views of the sea, this dining room has tall windows to allow for sea views. On the opposing side, the Portrie Restaurant and Terrace allows for outdoor seating. The terrace is framed by a recently installed timber pergola, smoked glass screens and patio heaters, making outside dining available for guests all year-round with opportunity of booking for larger parties up to 12. The hotel also hosts the Portrie Bar, for those looking for a refreshment rather than a meal. This bar offers eight draught products and a selection of over 50 gins and whiskies. The bar also offers Sky Sports centralised around the bar area.
Apartments 19
On the same site, the Mount Stewart Hotel hosts Apartments No. 19 at the rear of the hotel. Dubbed The Solway and The Firth, the Solway is a four-bedroom self-contained apartment. With one double room and three twin/king sized rooms – one an en-suite – the property sleeps up to 8 guests with a shared bathroom. Created as an indulgent escape, this property has a kitchen a dining area, with easy access to the Mount Stewart Hotel’s restaurants. The Firth, a one-bedroomed apartment, has been renovated to a similar high standard, sleeping 2 in a king-sized room. Both properties are detailed and decorated in providing guests the luxury Mount Stewart standard, bordered by a stunning view of the Irish sea and the Isle of Mann.
The Fairways
Located close to Portpatrick Dunsky Golf Club, the aptly named Fairways are luxury apartments with coastal views to the front of the Irish sea, affording views of Ireland and the Isle of Mann. Additionally, the upstairs apartments overlook the 5th Green and 10th Fairway of the Dunskey Golf Course.
All Fairways apartments have fully functioning kitchens with dishwashers, fridge/freezers and washing machines.
Based across three levels, No. 17 & 18 are full properties available for guests.

No.17 - Sandy Feet - is a four-bedroom property with Juliet Balconies from the top two bedrooms. The middle bedroom hosts a full balcony.

No. 18 - The Greenkeeper - is similarly a four bedroom, with the fourth room currently used as a dining area. In this property, there are Juliet Balconies from both the front and rear top bedrooms. No. 18 has a full balcony from the lounge / kitchen area and one from the dining area, the property spanning two floors with two modern bathrooms available.

On the ground floor,

No. 19 - The 19th Hole - is a two-bedroom open plan unit across the ground floor, with patio doors leading to a wraparound decking area from one of the double bedrooms to the kitchen entrance. This property is in an excellent location, the beach and surrounding restaurants less than a mile away with full amenities included in the kitchen and living areas.
Military Drive
Based on Military Drive, the Mount Stewart Hotel has three additional self-catering units. Military Drive hosts Ben Ma Cree, Graeme An Toishiac and Admiral’s Anchor.
Ben Ma Cree
Ben Ma Cree, formerly known as Commoners Croft, was originally built as a toll house, and is occasionally referred to as the old toll house, as well as its given nickname ‘Tickety Boo’. Purchased in 1999 and renovated to a high standard, this detached property has been updated across a duplex. Sleeping up to 7, the cottage has four bedrooms including 2 king sized rooms, a double room and a single. With a well-equipped kitchen including a dishwasher and washing machine, this property has a spiral staircase leading to a dining room as well as a balcony offering excellent views of the Irish sea and harbour. Externally guests have access to a furnished garden seating area and private hot tub, parking.
Graeme An Toicshaic
Graeme An Toicshiac is similarly built to an excellent standard. Sleeping 4, this property has 2 double bedrooms, based across a storey and a half. This premises has a house bathroom on the upper floor, the ground floor hosting a through lounge and separate dining kitchen, as well as a w/c. The property’s lounge exits through a patio door onto a rear decking area with the potential space for hot tub installation –additional private parking can be found externally. Fully self-catering, this property has a fully equipped kitchen with all amenities. The property has stunning views to the coast and countryside views of the Galloway Hills.
Admiral’s Anchor
Admiral’s Anchor, at Military Drive, acts as a holiday house in an elevated position for a potential 8 guests. Structured across four Levels with mezzanines floors ion between them, this property has four bedrooms –a super king sized ensuite, two king sized rooms and a twin bedroom. These, along with a house bathroom, are all available on the lower ground floor, two having access to the garden. On the upper ground floor this property has a decorated lounge, a kitchen/dining room and a toilet, the lounge leading onto a scenic balcony space for uninterrupted views of the coast and across Portpatrick. This property has a fully equipped kitchen with the main reception rooms. Upstairs there is a W/C and one-ensuite, with two utilities rooms.
Similarly to the Fairways, the Military Drive properties can be booked together for large parties.
Harbourside 1 & 2
Situated in the heart of Portpatrick village, the Mount Stewart Hotel has an office with 2 apartments at 47 Main Street. Called Harbourside 1 and Harbourside 2, these one-bedroom properties sleep 2 occupants each. Split across two storeys, Harbourside 1 and 2 respectively span the first and ground floor. Both properties host a spacious double bedroom and private bathroom, with facilities for guests including a fully equipped and integrated kitchen, as well as a modern glass fireplace. Both boast of similar views, just 70 metres from the Portpatrick beach, Harbourside 1 leading onto a balcony overlooking the nearby church. These apartments have a lockable adjoining door to accommodate multiple guests, and are nearby all amenities as well as free parking facilities.
Office
On the same site is the business’ main office with storage facilities and a small laundry in the basement of the property. Laundry services are primarily outsourced however this can be used for smaller loads. With a year-round season, the business consistently operates with 80% occupancy in the hotel and 66% across all properties.
