Argaka's Natural Environment

Argaka is a village which enjoys the breeze of the sea and which is “embraced” by a pine forest. In Argaka there is a large forest expanse which covers the uncultivated pieces of land, as well as several cultivations.

According to the Community Council, almost every resident of Argakais involved in the cultivation of land. In fact, for most of them the cultivation of land constitutes a secondary profession, while only 5% of them deal exclusively with agriculture. The village is an area where cultivations of citrus fruit, vegetables, avocados, fruit bearing trees and mangos flourish. Olive cultivation is also particularly developed.

The Excursion Site of “Agios Merkourios” and the “Mavralis” Park, which are maintained by the Department of Forests, add to the “images” of beauty one gets to admire in Argakawith the beautiful Cypriot plants and their wild vegetation. The Argaka-Makounta Water Dam located southeast of the village also constitutes unique scenery.

The visitors of the village are given the opportunity to enjoy the nature of Argaka by following the Nature Study Trail. While walking along the Trail, visitors can enjoy the beauty of the pine forest and the panoramic view towards the Community, the Chrysochous Bay and the Akamas Peninsula.
