Margarites is a small village located about 26km east of Rethymno, known for – or rather famous for – its pottery, which constitutes a local tradition and widespread occupation since the Minoan times. It counts 17 workshops – some of them also operate as exhibitions, giving visitors the chance to watch experienced and skillful artificers making all sorts of ceramic items and imitations of ancient Minoan potteries. The village has strong revitalizing energy and the most wonderful views. Treat yourself with some traditional drinks and food and just “surrender”.
