Montopoli is set in the heart of Tuscany, between Pisa and Florence. It is a thriving place with a wonderful castle on the hill with great views over the beautiful rolling hills and with many activities to offer. It is possible to go horse riding nearby,or rent a Vespa for the day, or enjoy the nearby spa towns of Casciana and Montecatini, play golf at the wonderful Castelfalfi Golf Resort and Spa, play tennis or even try paragliding, visiting wineries, craft workshops and more. Great ice cream, coffee bars and lovely local independent shops are in the village. Transport links are excellent as it is close to the FI-PI-LI, the main Florence, Pisa, Livorno highway, and there is a train station in the village. There are many interesting places to visit: San Miniato has a Diocesan Museum and is famous for white truffle; the town of Vinci is the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci and hosts a wonderful museum in his honour; Montelupo Fiorentino hosts an important museum of Renaissance ceramics works; and Artimino, with a collection of wonderful Medici villas. This area has been continuously inhabited since the Etruscan time: almost all the villages in the surrounding hills already existed in ancient times and it is not a rare event to come across Etruscan finds and archaeological excavations.
Distances: Montopoli (train station, FI-PI-LI) on the doorstep, Castelfalfi Golf and Spa Resort 30 km, Pisa (airport) 40 km, Lucca 40 km, Tirrenia (beaches) 40 kms, San Gimignano 45 km, Florence 50 km, Volterra 50 km, Siena 80 km.
