This is a house that doesn’t need to be overdressed when it comes to description. It is pretty in its simplicity and uncomplicated in its design. Laid out over 3 different levels with the entrance floor taking up the place of the largest living area, this 145 m2 house is quite modern in its arrangement. Kefalas is regarded as one of the most beautiful villages in the region of Apokoronas and Western Crete. The center of the picturesque village has 2 tavernas, two well stocked mini markets, and five traditional cafes. There are eight churches in Kefalas, some of which are historic, and the villagers celebrate with a feast day on August the 15th. On the outskirts of the village towards Drapanos there is the ruin of an ancient windmill, and you will also see many old corn threshing circles dotted around the area. The village is a 5-10 minutes drive from the administrative center of the area, the historic village of Vamos and right next to Ombrosgialos, a remote beach with turquoise waters. The steep slopes of the area attract speleologists and explorers of all kinds, while the clarity of the water and the Diving Park that will be constructed here in 2021 are expected to play a similar role for diving enthusiasts.
The whole region of Apokoronas is considered to be one of the greenest in Crete, characterized by picturesque small villages, restored traditional houses and beautiful villas. The city of Chania on the west is a 20-minute drive away while the city of Rethymno on the east is a 40-minute drive. It’s not by chance that most foreign residents in Western Crete choose this area for their vacation homes.
