Description complète

Located in the heart of one of the 'plus beaux villages de France' this carefully renovated 2 bed/ 2-bath village house with a newly fitted kitchen preserves its period features through its exposed brick walls, wooden beams and a wonderful fireplace.

Situated in the heart of the medieval city centre, the shops, cafes, restaurants and riverside walks are all on the doorstep. Here's the lay out of the cottage:

Ground Floor:

The ground floor offers an open plan fully equipped modern kitchen, dining area and cosy sitting room with exposed stone walls and a large stone fireplace and log burner.

First Floor:

Bedroom 1, shower room with toilet, the second bedroom with an ensuite bath area, library and a cosy outdoor sitting area.

Outside:

There is a small outdoor courtyard with space for a small table and a couple of chairs - a perfect spot to cool off on a warm summer's evening, and there is also an under cover area to store a healthy supply of logs for the wood-burner.

Vouvant is officially recognised as one of France's most beautiful villages as well as a 'petite cite de caractere'. It is exactly what you imagine when you think of authentic medieval french towns. Surrounded by the verdant countryside of the Vendee, Vouvant is extremely pretty and there are lots of outside spaces to just sit and enjoy the sunshine or the shade and watch the world go by.

Situated within a large bend in the river Mere, historical buildings, including the Melusine Tower and ancient 11th Century ramparts and an integral part of the town. Wandering around the quaint little streets and artisan's workshops, cafes, bars and restaurants are all part of the charm. There is a strong community spirit and the locals are clearly very proud of their town and in July and August there is a wonderful Medieval festival.

If you are keen on outdoor pursuits, there is plenty in the area to enjoy - lots of walking trails, horse-riding, cycling, golf, tennis and the beach is just an hour away for keen swimmers, sailors and surfers.

La Rochelle airport is just over an hour away, and is served by Easyjet, Jet2 and Ryanair. La Rochelle is also a stop on the TGV. The closest ferry port would be Saint Malo which is a 3hr 15mins drive.
