We currently have no full-time vacancies available at APITS Ltd, however we are always on the lookout for enthusiastic interns. 

We currently have two types of intern position available during 2010.

Editorial assistant/Junior writer

 

This role would suit a NCTJ  or journalism degree student or graduate.

Publishing assistant

This internship is a more business related role, with involvment in marketing, publishing and new media. The role, as with any business fuction involve a wide range of duties including administration.

This role would suit a marketing, business or media studies student or graduate.

In return you will be taught the fundamentals of magazine and online publishing and have some exposure to the world of consumer events. You can expect to learn the basics of magazine production processes and circulation marketing. You will learn how to update the website and create email marketing campaigns. You'll also learn about the role of the editorial and advertising sales teams and the impact of the commercial environment on the business.

General information relating to internships

To be considered for an internship, you must possess excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint (essential) and Quark/Indesign, photoshop (desirable) and be able to demonstrate a high level of literacy and numeracy with attention to detail.   

A Place in the Sun LiveWhilst school-leavers and university students will be considered, you must be able to demonstrate a high level of maturity as you will be given responsibility for various projects.

Our internships are unpaid, however a maximum of £35 per week travel allowance may be offered to the successful applicants, as you will be expected to work from our offices based in Borough Market, near London Bridge.

What do APITS Ltd look for in an application for work experience? A Place in the Sun website
We are looking for evidence of your genuine passion and knowledge of magazine and online publishing. This may mean that you are about to start, are currently studying, or have just finished a marketing or media studies course, or are thinking of doing so in the future.

What happens to my application after I submit it?
Your CV will be assessed for suitability and if you are required to attend the A Place in the Sun office for a short interview, you will be contacted. Due to the volume of applications recevied, only the candidates selected for interview will be contacted. 

My school/college/university course requires me to undertake work experience and I need to have my placement details confirmed in advance but the dates aren’t available yet. What should I do?
Please send your CV to us anyway, as we occasionally have short-term places available.

A Place in the Sun magazineCan I apply for work experience if I am an overseas applicant?
As an overseas applicant, you are welcome to apply, but as with UK applicants, you would need to meet any expenses incurred yourself that are over the maximum of £35 per week offered. Generally speaking, nationals from outside the EEA would need permission to do work experience, even though it is unpaid. More information is available from the UK Government Home Office website. In order to comply with Section 8 (Prevention of Illegal Working) of the Asylum & Immigration Act 1996, you will be asked to produce your passport/travel document at the commencement of your work experience placement to confirm your eligibility.
