Surviving on the acropolis is the temple of Athena Lindia, dating back to 300BC, the Castle of the Knights of St. John and the Greek Orthodox Church of St. John, dating back to the 13th or 14th century. Part of the film The Guns of Navarone was filmed on location at the citadel of Lindos. Aside from the acropolis, other notable sights in the town include the Byzantine-era church of Panagia and its bell tower, the churches of St. Peter and St. Paul, and the narrow paths surrounding the citadel with their traditional houses.
