El Médano means "the sand dune" in Spanish and is a district of the village of Granadilla de Abona. The town is located on the south-east coast of Tenerife on a small bay and is only a few kilometres away from the southern airport.
El Médano is especially popular with water sports enthusiasts: whether windsurfing or kite surfing, but the longest natural sandy beach in Tenerife, three kilometres long, also offers plenty of variety for sun-seekers.
Wonderful walks can be taken from the beach promenade to the famous Montaña Roja.
