Less hectic than Gümbet just east, Bitez (the closest resort town to Bodrum) Bitez is still a major centre of coastal nightlife in summer. It attracts many foreigners as well as a popular location for Turkish tourism. However Bitez remains a village framed by lovely orchards and maintains a year round location. The fine sandy shallow beach is 2km below the village centre. It is safe for children, good for swimming and offers numerous restaurants and cafes with umbrellas and sunbeds provided free on the beach area. There are many quality restaurants serving European and local cuisine. The ambience is quiet, laid back and relaxed. Quieter than some resorts like Gumbet or central Bodrum. In summer, Daily Boat Cruises offer day trips from the small harbour area where boat mooring is available.
