St. Vlas belongs to the Burgas region and is part of the community of Nessebar. The resort received the status of a city in 2006. But the creation of a resort area began here after the opening of a sanatorium for the treatment of lung diseases. In 1963, Sveti Vlas was recognized as a climatic seaside resort.
