Bed and Breakfast in Lubrin

A magnificent traditional, renovated and extended Cortijo, dating back more than 60 years, and
located on a hilltop finca with 2 acres of ancient terracing and just a 5 minute walk to
the authentic Andalucian white washed village of Lubrin, adorned with bright
geraniums and bougainvillea and endless sunshine. Established holiday rental of 2
farmhouse apartments and 3 detached cottages and includes 2 bedroom farmhouse
apartment, presently occupied by the owner. Rental License RTA/A/AL/00291 for 6
Apartmentos Turisticos.

A truly unique property in a unique location, two minute drive from the main road but
protected from traffic noise and pollution by a rambla to the north and a camino rural
to the south. The magnificent main entrance provides the backdrop to a large paved
area, historically employed as a threshing circle and provides convenient parking for
several cars.

From inside the main entrance is a paved approach to the upper ground floor of the
Cortijo with a plunge pool, converted from the original embalsa ( water reservoir)  and
an integrated pergola with facilities for “al fresco” dining with the heat of the summer
sun cooled by the prevailing sea breeze ( the Levante). On a clear day the view to
the east includes the Mediterranean, some 12 miles away as the crow flies. The
upper floor of the Cortijo has been converted to a 2 bedroom apartment, with en suite
bathroom and shower room, farmhouse kitchen and large sitting room.
From outside the porch are sets of steps, to the left and right and leading down to
two self contained 1 bedroom apartments on the lower ground floor. These
apartments comprise of large double bedrooms, sitting rooms, kitchens and family
bathrooms. Outside, each apartment has 2 terraces, one looking east to welcome the
sun with a cup of coffee and one looking west to toast the last rays with a glass of
wine. The Cortijo has central heating, Juliet balconies and shuttered windows, there
are also log burning stoves and ceiling fans and there is a communal utility room and
boiler house.

At the opposite end of the lower ground floor garden is a detached 1 bedroom
cottage converted from an agricultural outbuilding. The living room is open plan with
log burning stove and a shower and separate WC leads on into the double bedroom
with vanity basin, ceiling fan an electric heating. Outside has an open and covered
terraces with views to the Mediterranean and the benefits of the Levante.
On the bottom terrace of the finca is a 2 bedroom detached cottage which was
converted from a barn and has covered porch to the front and walled patio to the
rear. There is a very large open plan living area with shuttered windows, log burning
stove and ceiling fans. The kitchen is from Ikea with gas hob and oven and
freestanding fridge/freezer. There are two double bedrooms with shuttered windows,
ceiling fans and electric heating. There is a spacious family bathroom.
On the same terrace is a 1 bedroom detached cottage converted from a stables. The
living area is open plan with Ikea kitchen, gas hob and oven, freestanding fridge,
shuttered windows, ceiling fans and log burning stove. There is a double bedroom
with shuttered window, ceiling fan and electric heating. Landscaping is made up of
pea gravel lawns bordered by grape vines and oleander and there are an abundance
of Almond, Olive and Pomegranate trees.

The success of the holiday rentals is the magical combination of the peace and
tranquillity of the Cortijo and yet a short 5 minute walk to the village with facilities to
cater for all the needs of the holiday makers. Unlike on the coast the tapas bars are
open all year round and with the winter sun self guided walking and mountain cycling
in the adjacent foothills of the Sierra de los Filabres, provides a year round income.
Despite its rural location the local road network provides quick and easy access to
the Auto via del Mediterraneo and the coastal towns and villages of the Costa del
Almeria. The airports of Almeria, Alicante and Murcia provides access for the
 international travellers.

Cortijo Fuente Arriba is conveniently located for exploring Almeria with its diverse
and dramatic landscapes, isolated villages and romantic beaches and coves. The
Cabo de Gata National Terrestrial and Maritime Park is simply breathtaking and
many guests take the day trip to Granada to marvel at the wonderful Alhambra. or a
local visit to our very own Moorish Alcazaba Fortress in Almeria city.
