Mochlos is a small unspoiled fishing village with a quiet bay, harbour area, delightful waterfront tavernas and small rocky beaches. There is a simple village shop and several gift shops all of which are open during the summer months. Directly opposite the village is the island of Mochlos home to an archaeological site of an ancient Minoan settlement; boat trips are available for short visits across to the island. The town of Ierapetra provides all main amenities including supermarkets, banks and medical facilities and is within a 30 minute drive. The international airport at Heraklion is approx a 90 minute drive.
