Granada Houses presents this large three storey town house in the small town of Illora, Andalucia. The property is in one of the oldest parts of town and is near to the central church which has a tower that dates back to 1541 and was originally the site of an earlier church and before that a mosque.
This attractive house has a traditional double door entryway. The first set of doors lead to a small tiled hall and a second set of double doors lead to the main hallway. Off the main hallway are two ground floor rooms, stairs to the upper floors, a basic kitchen and doors to the patio area. The house needs updating which gives you the chance to change the distribution of the rooms.
The patio has an initial covered section which then opens out to an open air section. At the back of the patio is the original kitchen with fireplace where the family used to produce sausages and air dried meat for their personal use. Next to this is a large room currently used for storage and underneath this area is the same size set of rooms which were stables for the family animals. This area is ripe for change and could become a separate house or a studio, office, workshop or just for storage.
The interior walls on the ground floor and going up to the first floor have Andalusian half tiling and quality stone staircase. On the first floor are three rooms, two at the street side and one at the patio side. As is common with traditional Spanish houses two of the rooms are one immediately off the other. We think it would be fairly easy to separate these rooms or to make one of them into a bathroom.
The top floor is completely open plan and you can view the roof construction of wood beams and large wood planks between. The floor here is traditional brick in herringbone design. This space could be kept totally open plan or split into three or more rooms.
This is a house for anyone who’d like to take on an easy renovation project where at the end you’d have a gorgeous, large property with good outside space and walking distance to all amenities.
