Casa Las Rejillas has been beautifully restored by the current owner to create a space that feels stylish, yet rustic, modern, yet with the touch of a bygone era, and totally homely and relaxing. It is a haven of peace in a busy little village located in the lush semi-tropical river valley leading down to the Med, via the ancient town of Velez-Malaga, in stunning countryside planted with tropical mango and avocado orchards.

Located at the top of the village, with easy access by car and just a short walk down hill to the village centre with its bars and restaurants, banks and sports facilities, Casa Las Rejillas has the advantage of looking down over the entire village and out across the countryside towards the mountains.

The pretty street is very quiet, given that it has wide steps, meaning there are no noisy motorbikes or traffic on the street. A couple of steps lead up to the front door, and into the living room area. One is immediately taken aback by this delightful and spacious room, with an entire wall of glass sliding doors opening out onto the wide balcony terrace and views over the village. An awning protects the terrace from the sun (the house faces East/South East, which means plenty of morning sunshine). The living room (4 x 4m) has a modern, digitally controlled pellet stove which keeps the house warm and cosy in the Winter. There is also an air conditioning unit, but this may need servicing or replacing with a more modern unit.

The fully fitted kitchen is accessed through a tall archway (3.5 x 2.5m) and has a filtered water tap and instant hot water, meaning minimum water wastage. There is also a door from the kitchen to the balcony terrace, convenient for taking out food or drinks.

To the right of the front door is a separate WC and this would be the ideal place to relocate the washing machine, as there is space and plumbing for one here, and this would free up space in the kitchen for a dishwasher.

To the left of the entrance area are two staircases. One leads downstairs to a landing, with three bedrooms and a family bathroom. (Bed 1: 2.8 x 2.5m plus wardrobe, Bed 2: 2.5 x 3.5m including wardrobe and Bed 3: 3.8 x 2.8m). Bedroom 3 has a sofabed which converts into a single and a double bed. This room is also access to the garden. The bathroom (2.5 x 1.5m) has a full length bath with overhead shower and instant hot water.

The little garden is quite delightful, planted with many flowering plants and bushes, a little green oasis with splashes of colour from the flowers, overlooking the village. The garden is wide at one end (3m), narrowing to around 1m at the far end and around 7m long.

There is a solar vent with a solar panel attached to the outside wall on this floor which disperses warm air into the bedrooms, spreading around the house.

Back in the entrance, stairs lead up to a door that opens out onto the large roof terrace (8 x 3.5m) with plenty of space for planting in pots and a dining table and chairs under an awning. The views across the village are delightful and here is an ideal place to watch the villagers come and go and see the sunsets in the West and the sunrises in the East.

All of the outside spaces in this property have beautiful, ornate ironwork ‘rejas’ which act as a safety barrier and cast beautiful, patterned shadows at certain times of day, one of the many details which make this house rather special.

This property would make a perfect holiday home, where one can enjoy privacy and peace, but still be just a short distance from village life. It is also suitable for permanent living.
