ABOUT MALEME:

The historic Maleme is located 18 km west of Chania and is part of the long coastline of the Gulf of Chania that essentially starts from Kolimbari and reaches east to Chania, where we find many sandy and pebble beaches. The area of ??Maleme, as well as the wider area of ??the Gulf of Chania, is very developed for tourism. Next to the beach, you will find all the necessary amenities, but even if you are looking for something quieter, you can isolate yourself at the edge of the beach, near the old Maleme War Airport.

Maleme is one of the most historic places in Greece, as the airport located here was the landing point of the German paratroopers, during the Battle of Crete in 1941. The Germans, who met heroic resistance from the local population and the allied forces, they finally managed to occupy the airport but with many losses.
