Tropical gardens are filled with seagrape trees and a variety of palms, and a bright splash of bougainvillea stands out along the front deck.
In the last two years, considerable work has been done at Four Peaks. A large pool has been added to the side of the house – complete, of course, with wide sun decks made from cut Nevisian stone. Alongside stands a dramatic raised and covered pavilion, and with views reaching across greenery towards the Caribbean Sea it’s the ideal place for morning yoga or evening cocktails. A new circular driveway has also been added and the interior of both the main house and the chattel house have been repainted, with the floors resurfaced and painted.
All three bedrooms are generous in size and have doors leading out onto the wraparound verandah: cooling breezes and the sound of rustling palms are never far away. There’s a large sitting room with a number of separate seating areas, and an archway leads to the gorgeous farmhouse-style kitchen. Recent additions of a new refrigerator and stove ensure this traditional kitchen meets all modern requirements, but the emphasis is really on the vast mahogany-covered island in the centre.
The cheerful blues of the cupboard doors reflect those used on the shutters outside: this is a home where the décor has been carefully considered. Four Peaks’ interior offers a warmth and true feeling of homeliness that is often lost in more modern properties.
Perhaps the most enchanting corner of this place, though, must rest with the chattel house. This was moved onto the land and now provides a gorgeous, chic extra bedroom or office space. Anyone keen to bring a little boho charm to the island will fall in love with the possibilities here.
Set along a quiet residential road, Four Peaks is within easy walking distance of some of the best bars and beaches on the island. It’s just a short drive to the main circular road that wraps around Nevis so the airport, bustling Charlestown and wild southern reaches of the island are never far away. Perfect as a permanent family home this would also make an excellent rental property, with the unique charms of the chattel house and the drama of the cocktail terrace offering an intriguing appeal unavailable elsewhere on the island.
GREAT ROOM
A large sitting area with gorgeous vaulted ceilings has separate TV, dining and seating areas; two sets of French windows lead to the wraparound verandah.
KITCHEN
Accessed via an archway from the living room, this is decorated to provide farmhouse-style charm with all modern amenities.
BEDROOMS
Three generously proportioned bedrooms all have doors that lead out to the wraparound porch.
GROUNDS
The house is set in just under 1.5 acres of landscaped gardens filled with mature tropical trees and plants. A large pool was added in 2020-2021, finished with a wide sun deck and raised covered pavilion.
