This beautiful semi-detached split-level stone village house of almost 150m2, on a plot of about 200m2, is situated in the village of Kalo Horio near Heraklion.

The owners bought and renovated it with the utmost care in 2006. It is in no need of renovation and most of the furniture and appliances are included in the price.

It has five levels connected by a few steps, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a storage room, dining room, kitchen and living room. There is a courtyard at the entrance, a large balcony as well as a back garden with a shed.

The property is accessed through a lovely stone arch with a wooden door that leads into a courtyard with lush, well-kept plants. Tiled steps and a pathway between stone flowerbeds lead to the front door.

Upon entering the house, one sees the dining room with a large wooden table and chairs on the left. There is an arched window on the right wall that looks into the kitchen.

The entrance to the kitchen is at the end of the dining room on the right. It is fully equipped and lined with lovely wooden cabinets, and shelves holding various vases and jars. There are also ceramic crockery, pots and pans hanging from hooks on the walls. The old fireplace/cooker was closed off but the original stone arch was kept as a decorative element above the electric stove. There is also a skylight which gives some natural light to the kitchen area.

After the kitchen entrance, straight ahead, is a stone lined entrance into the living room which has two distinct areas “divided” by a large stone arch overhead. On the right is an office with a lovely solid wood desk and chair, and built in shelf . The other area is the lounge area, with two couches, coffee table and stone fixture on which the TV is placed. There are also some built-shelfs beside the TV used for books, CDs etc.

On the left of the lounge is a wooden staircase. Three steps up lead into a bedroom with a lovely well-kept and polished wood floor, large wooden cupboard, cottage style bed, nightstand, and dresser. There is a window as well as doors that lead out to a large balcony with an uninterrupted view of the village and the mountains in the distance.

The same staircase spirals down into an area that accommodates a bathroom, entered on the left, with a large tub, sink and toilet. On the right of the bathroom is the laundry room with a washing machine, shelving and a small cupboard.

From here are more tiled steps leading down to another beautiful and very large light-filled bedroom which also has a large, impressive stone arch overhead. There is a queen-sized wooden bed, nightstands, large cupboard, and two dressers. There is a low window looking out into the back garden.

A few more steps lead to the lowest level which also has a bathroom and a small room, which the owners use for storage at the moment. From this room one can access the back garden through a door.

This back garden is paved with stone all around and is closed off with a metal and wood garage door. There is a shed in the opposite corner.

The house has kept all the original arches and niches as well as the wooden ceiling beams. It has thick 60cm thick stone walls that insulate the house, keeping it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. There are air conditioners for heating/cooling and solar panels for hot water.
The property is closed off with high stone walls giving the tenants privacy. It is a beautiful authentic village home with extraordinary character!

The village of Kalo Chorio is 23kms from Heraklion Airport.
