El Medano is very well known for its water sports - especially windsurfing and kitesurfing and unlike most of the resorts in the South has a somewhat Bohemian vibe, very laid back and the ideal place to unwind and destress. It is one junction from the South airport so is just under 10 minutes away. The resort of Los Cristianos is a mere 20 minutes away by car.

There is a popular beach right in the centre of town, another beach on the East side of the resort and a large beach where you have all of the water sports and activities on the West side of the town - a couple of minutes walk away.

There are loads of restaurants, cafes and bars here. It is an older town which started as a residential villa, then grew larger before morphing into its current form over the past 3 or 4 decades as the tourists arrived. As such it doesn't feel like a built for tourism resort in any ways and retains much of its original charm.

If you are not familiar with the area, it is well worth a visit, especially on a Friday or Saturday evening.
