Full Description

Historic house dating from 1810 – 6 bedrooms – 2 bathrooms – patio – flat garden – fabulous location just 450 metres from the beach – light renovation required

This is a unique opportunity to acquire a historic building in the form of a beautiful, end-of-terrace 200 year old house in the heart of Torre del Mar, just a few minutes’ walk from the beach, bursting with character and the charm of a bygone era.

This is such an unusual find! A house dating from around 1810, in a historic street, hidden from view, right in the heart of this bustling little seaside town, 30 minutes to the East of Malaga city. It is a little jewel and a rare piece of a bygone time, ready to be restored to its former glory. It could even be restored as a seaside B&B.

The town of Torre del Mar is becoming more and more popular and the promenade, seafront, long beach and excellent facilities attract both Spaniards and tourists from across Europe.

Discovering this street (with easy parking just around the corner), is like walking back in time! A natural archway of pink bourganvillea leads us into a semicircle of ancient town houses along a narrow, pedestrian street with tables and chairs laid out for the neighbours to enjoy. In front of the house is a long strip of completely flat land, wonderfully tangled and overgrown, with the tall cyprus and palm trees, offering us a hint of how is must have once been – elegant gardens with high trees and flowering bushes, casting dappled sunlight across the garden path . Is is a garden itching to be restored to its former glory, as is the house!

The house, on the other side of the little pedestrian street, and facing the gardens, has a main entrance in the form of tall double doors, leading into an inner hall with a large original window to the front (4.2 x 3.33m). To the left is a staircase leading to the upper floor and to the right, original, tall double wooden doors lead into a bedroom (could be used for any other purpose) (3.75 x 3.33m) with large original window to the front.

Double doors in the centre rear of the hallway lead into a dining or living room, (4.15 x 3.7m) with a door to left and right. The right hand door, leads to bedroom 2 (2.48 x 3.7m) which has a connecting door to bedroom 1. To the left leads to the kitchen, which has good wooden units, but anyone purchasing may wish to install a new kitchen or even move it (2.5 x 3.7m) with a store/utility room or ‘pantry’ beyond (2 x 1.5m).

Double doors on the rear wall of the dining room lead out to the totally private and spacious walled patio courtyard (7.7 x 5m), a lovely space for outdoor dining, relaxing and perhaps creating a pot-plant filled Andalusian patio paradise! To the right of the patio area we find doors to a laundry area (2 x 1.4m), a store room (1.57 x 1m) and a bathroom (1.87 x 1.7m). The patio also has its own well.

Upstairs takes us to a corridor leading to bedrooms 3 and 4 to the front of the building overlooking the street and gardens (2.4 x 3.2m and 3.3 x 3.33m) with beautiful original wooden windows and shutters. There is an upstairs bathroom in between these two bedrooms (2.43 x 1.6m). The bathroom is a little old fashioned at present. On the opposite side of the corridor are bedrooms 5 and 6 (3.88 x 3.8m and 3.8 x 3m), one of which has a door to an open terrace (4.36 x 2.3m), which overlooks the patio and the streets beyond.

This wonderful old house is extremely rare to find in the centre of a seaside town such as Torre del Mar and therefore represents a unique purchase opportunity.
