The Little Mulberry House is a restored old stone built residence. It is configured as two small one bedroomed maisonettes. One is used as a guest house with the adjoining house used by the current owners as their permanent residence. Both maisonettes comprise of one bedroom, living room kitchen and a bathroom with shower and tub. One of the residencies is being sold fully furnished and for the other one white goods are included in the selling price and furniture by negotiation.
The renovation of the property has been done with care and respect for the traditional character of the house and many elements have been preserved, including wall niches, an old wine press, and an old bread oven.
The plot of the development is surrounded by a high stone wall which offers complete privacy. The entrance to the courtyard is through a traditional “Hyat”, part of which is covered providing two store rooms, one for the pool filtration and the other for storage. The Hyat is a covered welcoming area, where visitors used to park their animals in bygone days when they arrived at the house. Very often, the housewives also used to knit there so they could socialise with passersby in the street. The courtyard of the development is paved and comprises of a swimming pool of about 20 m² and a lovely peaceful BBQ and sitting area shaded by a beautiful mulberry tree.
The two maisonettes have separate entrances and are in essence two separate dwellings, however they could easily be opened up and joined together as one super villa by removing the old bread oven which is between the two. The present owners run a very successful holiday let business by renting out the smaller of the two maisonettes whilst living next door. The house is set in the middle of the small village of Tzitzifes. The village boasts two top quality Taverernas, where traditional food is served and you will be welcomed like a family member. There is also a small kafeneon (bar). Vans stop in the village square daily selling their wares including the bread van, fish van and numerous quality fruit and veg vans. A van even stops selling fresh chickens (live) there are also 3 small cheese producers in the village which are famous in the area for their feta, yoghurt and Graviera cheese. There is a bus service to the main City of Chania Monday to Friday. The next village from Tzitzifes is Fres, 1 KM away, where there is a fantastic bakery and 3 kafeneon and shops selling local produce. The main town of Vrisses is just 5 minutes away which has a bus station, banks, supermarkets, bars and restaurants. There are also Doctors, Dentists and Vets in Vrysses. The area is perfect for walkers of all abilities with wonderful views of the White Mountains and the sea. The beach towns of Kalives and Georgioupoli are easily accessible within 15 minutes. The house is ideally situated for access and exploring the rest of Crete as the Highway is only 5 minutes drive. From there Chania and its airport is a 40 minute drive, Rethymnon is a 30 minute drive with Heraklion being just over one and a half hours away. The property is set in a peaceful and beautiful location but has all the amenities you would require to live a perfect lifestyle.
