3 Bed Village House for sale
Comares, Malaga, Andalucia, Spain
Full Description
A very beautiful village house for minor restoration/improvement, hanging right on the cliff-edge of the spectacular village of Comares
Located in a quiet area of this extremely picturesque and historic mountain village, perched on the edge overlooking a vast landscape, all the way down to the sea in the distance, this fascinating house needs only a small amount of work to make it the perfect house for living, rental, or holidays.
Just a very short walk from the centre, a gate in the wall leads into a long, narrow patio garden, which could be made into a paradise of geraniums in pots, bourganvillea and jasmin, in true Andalusian style. From here, double doors lead into a very large living/dining room (7 x 4m plus the staircase area). This lovely room has rustic features such as beams on the ceiling, original, traditional wooden windows, thick floors and original tiles, but is in extremely good condition. Just opposite the wooden double door entry is a door leading out the a quite magical spot! A tiny outdoor washing area with traditonal washing tub – with an amazing view! The drop is quite breathtaking, the expanse and immensity of the panorama enticing and inspiring! And best of all, the wonderful breeze that flows into the room and out into the patio garden means it is the perfect place to be in the Summer!
Next to this little outdoor lookout point is the bathroom, which is no longer serviceable, given that the plumbing flows straight out of the rock well below, not something that should be left! The answer would be either to find a way of raising the bathroom (perhaps a couple of steps up) and bringing new plumbing across the living room floor, and across the patio to the street to be connected to the mains drainage, or alternatively, eliminate the bathroom and join it to the look-out area, with glass windows to make one beautiful, heart-stopping terrace.
To the far end of the room is a door into the kitchen. This lovely, very old fashioned room, is absolutely delightful, with its little window through the immensely thick walls, overlooking that view. Its old fashioned style would be nice to preserve, (and again the ceiling has beams), but perhaps with new kitchen units. Beyond the kitchen is a useful store area in a triangular shape.
Stairs at one end of the living room lead to the upper floor. This consists of two large bedrooms and a store area in a triangular shape, (directly over that of the kitchen). It would be logical to divide up this space to make two bedrooms and a bathroom on this floor, (which could connect up to mains drainage easily). The ceilings upstairs are sloping, with beams, continuing the rustic theme of the house.
Outside on the street, a separate door leads into a mini apartment, consisting of a kitchen/dining area upon entry, a door to the left leading to a store room/workshop, with a few steep steps up to an open area that could be made into a patio or terrace. Stairs from the kitchen/dining area lead up to a bedroom with a window over the street and a small shower room, all in good conidition and reasonably up to date. It might be possible to join the two separate units of this house into one, although it would require a few steps down from the main house in the apartment.
A fascinating old house which would make a wonderful permanent or holiday home, with bags of potential for improvement to adapt to more modern life without ruining its original character.
