Its historical profile testifies to the ancient history of this Byzantine fortification, destroyed and rebuilt several times during the wars. From the 13th century it was subdued by the powerful city of Panicale and became a milestone of the Perugian defensive system: it was the tallest and most impregnable castle in the area. The recent renovation of this medieval village in 1995 has returned to the castle its original residential functions.
