Taranta Peligna is a town in the Province of Chieti in the Abruzzo region of Italy and it has a population of around 500 inhabitants. It rises in the valley of the Aventino river, at m. 460 above sea level.

Taranta is known above all for the processing of fabrics (in particular for the famous "tarante": woolen blankets, very colorful, with floral or geometric motifs decorations).
On the slopes of the Maiella, its territory extends for 21.65 square kilometers, over a mainly mountainous area full of caves.
