Full Description

In the village of Lajatico, in the prettiest and most romantic corner of the village, is this great property within an historical building. It features a lovely, spacious terrace directly off the kitchen. Now ready to be revived into a beautiful home with large living spaces, high ceilings and an air of history and elegance. There are two bedrooms, bathroom and a balcony, and with a spacious cantina below making a perfect 'pied a terre' in Lajatico, for home or rental.

The entrance to the main door is on the village lane and up to the first floor with entrance into the large kitchen with antique 'focarile' fireplace used to cook in the past, spacious living room with frescoes hidden under the plaster layer, two bedrooms, store room, bathroom and balcony. An amazing large 'cantina' (cellar) is right under the living room, on the ground floor with access from the lane village. This beautiful property offers so much potential and is now ready to be converted into a beautiful residence for holidays or to live in all year round. Services are connected and the boiler is less than 5 years old. Easy car access and private garage for a small car.

Lajatico is rich in culture and the narrow streets are an art exhibition in themselves, throughout the year. The property is just off the main square of the little town, which has two caffès, a charming restaurant with tables and chairs outside on the piazza, a pharmacy, the Bank of Lajatico, a good bakery and many other small shops. The piazza is a busy and friendly place to stop for a coffee and chat and to catch up with all that is going on in the area. The town of Lajatico is located in Valdera, in Central Tuscany between Pisa and Florence. Andrea Bocelli is a world renowned tenor and Lajatico is his hometown so every year in July he hosts an important international festival at his 'Teatro del Silenzio', his specially created open air amphitheatre. During this week music lovers come from all over the world to listen to the wonderful performances of Bocelli, and other international artists. Bocelli is often seen in the square or at his restaurant where he samples, and encourages others to sample, the local specialties of his expert chefs. This colourful landscape of rolling hills is dotted with medieval villages, castles and lanes flanked with tall green cypress trees which epitomizes the Tuscan landscape. Meandering through the countryside of Valdera you feel the vestiges of the mysterious Etruscan civilization. Casciana Terme, just a few kms away, has thermal waters and spa facilities and is another pretty town with piazzas and cafes. The nearby 'città d’arte' (cities of art) include Volterra, San Gimignano, Palaia and Florence, which are all within an easy distance for wonderful days out, and they are a delight to explore.

Distances: Lajatico on the doorstep, Volterra 20 km, San Gimignano 35 km, Coast 40 km, Lucca 50 km, Pisa (airport) 50 km, Florence 80 km.
