Nestled in the quaint cobbled street of the hillside village, this charming stone house dates from the 1800s. With an ancient front door and original stone steps, and beautiful wooden floors it is easy to sense the history of this house, but this has been married with modern appliances, to produce a charming little house. The living room has windows on two sides, with wonderful views, making it light and bright. On this level is also a good bedroom (currently twin) and a shower room. Downstairs, is a lovely master suite with double bedroom and a spacious modern bathroom with bath. On the top floor is a wonderful open plan kitchen/ living/ dining room, with exposed stone, beamed ceilings and cosy fireplace. This room opens directly onto a terrace with barbecue which has spectacular views down the valley, and is a perfect place to entertain.

The house is set in a small village in the municipality of Casola in Lunigiana which is a small town set on the hill above the Aulella river with the houses huddled around its central stone tower. The town is famous for the stone statues that date back to the Neolithic age and are thought to be gifts to the moon Goddess. There is a selection of shops and restaurants in the town, a chemist and in the neighbouring village a train station with direct trains to Lucca. There are beautiful views to the Apuan mountains and cobbled lanes lead from the town to the river.

Lunigiana is a magical part of Tuscany. The hills that encircle Lunigiana create an intimate and relaxed atmosphere whilst the blend of the mountains and sea are extremely inviting to those who enjoy the outdoors. The rolling landscape is liberally sprinkled with castles of Medici or Malaspina vintage and for lovers of the coast the sea is only half-an-hour away. The golden sandy beaches around Lerici and the pebble coves of the Cinque Terre are ideal for swimming and sailing. The area is criss-crossed with marked footpaths for walks to the hills and mountains. The airports of Pisa, Parma and Genova are all just over an hour away.
