The village is Montegemoli, full of pretty stone buildings huddled together, with the open landscape of rolling hills below. The name comes from 'Monte di Gemoli', which are the little, yellow flowers which cover the hills of the stunning Val di Cecina region, one of the very prettiest regions of Tuscany. The village is famous for the special Tuscan bread, which is celebrated locally with a village festa in April each year. The village has a church and a castle and within a very short stroll is an excellent restaurant, Osteria dell'Ultimo Carbonaio, which only ever has first class reviews and five stars on all the sites.

The estate is in the Val di Cecina which is in a perfect location to explore all of Tuscany. Within half an hour you can reach the famous medieval towns of Volterra and San Gimignano with their shops, art galleries and profusion of restaurants. Further afield, the Chianti region and the famous Black Cock wine route are all within 40 minutes or so. Siena is a 40 minute drive, and you can reach central Florence in a little over an hour. Importantly, the airport run to Pisa is also under an hour.
