Set in a hilltop village in the middle of the triangle between Florence, Siena and Pisa in the area of Val di Cecina which boasts beautiful Tuscan countryside and rich historical heritage. The village has lovely cobbled lanes and in true Tuscan style sellers arrive in the village piazza each week with vegetables, fruit, bread and specialist regional cuisine. There are many popular festivals over the summer weekends. The food, of course, is delicious with game specialities inland and seafood specialities on the coast. Local wine is available in the supermarkets or sold over the counter at the bars and restaurants. A visit to the famous Tuscan ‘cantinas’ or wine makers offers a pleasant day out and you will come home with some of the best of the local wine and we can highly recommend the Cantina Antinori in the town of Bolgheri.

Montecatini Val di Cecina is a medieval town overlooking the green valley. The countryside extends from the mountains to the east, through the vineyards terraced on the low hills and down to the Mediterranean scrub with pine woods and brooms to the west. The golden hills are planted with orchards, vineyards and olive groves. The area is scattered with historical towns and medieval villages, castles and country churches and a landscape with golden meadows, vineyards, olive groves and fields of sunflowers.
