This stone farmhouse in an absolutely stunning, private location, a true piece of paradise, in the green hills in the heart of Tuscany. The farmhouse has retained the character and charm and sense of history, with the original stone facade and many features intact, so it is easy to imagine life here in times gone by. The farmhouse is of 400 sqm and there are three significant outbuildings (in total 200 sqm) and over 8 hectares (21 acres) of land.

The beautiful farmhouse is entered onto the first floor from some outside steps and into a large living room with an impressive fireplace, exposed stone walls and beamed ceiling. To the left is a large kitchen with wood burning stove and a table and chairs and also two spacious double bedrooms, a study area and a large bathroom. This part of the house is in good condition and has been lived in for many years by a couple who retired here to live in peace and harmony with nature. The views are quite extraordinary. The side wing of the house, with independent entrance, is a large room with high ceilings and tall windows which is currently used only as a laundry room. However, it has enormous potential to convert to additional accommodation, which would be flooded with light, and with breathtaking views. The area below the main living accommodation is currently large cantina (store rooms).

The three outbuildings, in different locations on the site, were previously used as stables, a two storey animal barn and a store. These all offer additional possibilities. There is a source of natural spring water on the land (sorgente) and plentiful, free firewood, so it is possible to be self-sufficient in these regards. Garage and plenty of private parking.The house is accessed along an unpaved road of around 2.5 kms which connects to the lovely village of Montecastelli Pisano. There is a substantial olive grove of around 300 trees, while the rest of the land is open meadowland and woodland. It is in a stunning spot.

Set close to Montecastelli Pisano, a pretty hilltop village surrounded by olive groves between Siena and Volterra, with easy access to Pisa airport. The surrounding countryside is beautiful. In the village you can walk to the panoramic restaurant/bar in the village, with tables both indoors and outside on the large, sunny terrace.

Casole D'Elsa is a delightful medieval town close by with a weekly market, a good choice of grocery stores, bakeries, butchers, a pharmacy, banks, post office, bars and restaurants. There is also a small supermarket, an art school and a museum. Today Colle Val D'Elsa is famous for the production of crystal items; there's also a museum dedicated to this activity. The Berignone National Park is on the edge of town offering beautiful marked walking trails. The prestigious Belmond Castello di Casole, one of Tuscany's finest resorts, is nearby, offering 5 star hotel accommodation and Spa, a cocktail bar, a pizzeria and a fine dining restaurant. There are also a number of excellent hotels and B&Bs locally. Within half an hour, you can reach the famous medieval towns of Volterra and San Gimignano with their shops, art galleries and profusion of restaurants. Further afield, the Chianti region and the famous Black Cock wine route are all within 40 minutes to an hour of Montecastelli and easy day trips can be made to the abundant art and architecture of Siena, Florence and Pisa.
