Assisi is just over an hour. Day trips to Florence and Rome are possible by road or by rail from the nearby stations of Camucia or Terontola. All have fine restaurants and there are many vineyards in Cortona and Montepulciano. Lake Trasimeno, about 20 minutes away, has marinas and water sports, walking and cycling activites. The Etruscan hill town of Cortona, with artworks, museums, unique shops and first class restaurants is only 10 minutes by car. For the more serious shopper the Val di Chiana Outlet Village is easily accessible by car.
