INTERIOR

You enter in the open living/dining area, with stone walls, wooden beamed ceilings and a stone fire place in the corner. To the left is the dark colored fully equipped kitchen with a patio door giving access to the front courtyard. Plenty of kitchen cupboards and a traditional stone wood oven have been installed.

EXTERIOR

An iron entrance gate opens to a large concrete driveway leading to the covered parking area, big enough to park several cars. As the plot is divided by a small river, you must cross a wooden bridge to access the house with its large stone paved exterior patios and BBQ area. This has potential to be upgraded to extensive living corners with covered pergolas and extensions. There is a possibility to build a pool if one would wish to do so.

The surroundings are lush and green, with bamboos and mature trees in the garden.

THE AREA

Vatolakos is a small traditional village set in the foothills of the White Mountain, surrounded by magnificent scenes of Crete’s nature. It is very “Greek” about 14km away from beaches and with a typical Cretan feel; the main occupation of the permanent population is agriculture and farming.

The village has a 22 meter high clock tower, olive and oil museum and a winery. Do not miss the opportunity to follow the old path of the village along Valsamiotis river, an extremely pleasant walk of around 1 km through dense vegetation that the residents of the village brought to surface with hard volunteer work. The path connects the square of the village to the newly built Valsamiotis Dam.

For every day amenities the village offers a supermarket and 3 well known tavernas with homemade Greek food. Alikianos is a bigger village with many amenities located just a few minutes’ drive from Vatolakos.
