Full Description

A fascinating old house in a very quiet, in good condition and packed with rustic charm, very private location within the small mountain village of Cutar – perfectly habitable, but with potential for modernisation or improvement of inner layout

If you are looking for something unusual, artistic, inspiring, within a small village with impressive views, then consider Casa La Boveda.

Location

The beautiful village of Cutar clings to the side of the mountain (rather like Casa La Boveda, which appears to ‘grow’ out of the hillside), with outstanding panoramic mountain and country views. The village is sleepy, but very interesting, with many musical and artistic people from Spain and across Europe finding inner peace and inspiration in this amazing location. The village has a shop and a bar, and is only 10 mintues from the busier, larger village of Benamargosa, with plenty of facilities.

Casa Boveda is located on a very quiet alleyway to the upper end of the village and has wonderful views from several terraces, patios and from within the house.

The house

There is only one way to describe this house: totally unique and fascinating! And the only way to describe it is to take a tour!

From the lower entrance, gates lead through into a walled patio courtyard, (approx. 4 x 4m) with fabulous views over the village and countryside. From here, a front door leads into a reception room (currently used as a bedroom – there is nothing normal or conventional about the layout of this property!). From here steps lead down to a semi circular, small patio with a lemon tree which as a small room used currently as an art room off the patio. A door from this patio leads out to the other street.

Back up in the reception room, an arch leads into a living room with fireplace, and then on to a kitchen with a traditional domed bread oven. Beyond the living room is a bedroom, leading through to another bedroom, which in turn leads to a bathroom with sunken bath.

From the living room, steps lead up to a bathroom and further up to a hallway. From here is access to a huge room, very beautiful, with high, beamed ceilings, windows over the views and plenty of light. From here is access to two further bedrooms and a bathroom. Also on this floor is a second kitchen.

From the second kitchen is access out to a small garden, with steps leading to a very large roof terrace with the same wonderful, panoramic views. And a ramp leads down from the second kitchen, past the ‘boveda’ or dome of the brick built bread oven, to a small patio with gates to the strteet.

This amazing property has 3 different entrances from the street, a huge solarium and several small patios. The amount of work one might undertake on this property is very much down to the type of person that purchases it. Its chaotic layout is part of its charm, but for the more structured mind, it could be possible to improve the layout without losing its built-in charm.
