Full Description

Stunning character property with a courtyard and wisteria pergola, terrace, land and partially restored outbuilding.

Set in one of the most beautiful villages of the area, this wonderful property positioned around a courtyard has been tastefully restored by the current owners with great attention to detail and maintaining all the original features of the house including wooden beams, stone floors, original fireplace and antique marble sink.

Entered off the stone flagged courtyard which is complete with a wisteria pergola for 'al fresco' dining, you enter into a cosy living area with fireplace which then opens onto a dining room. The built-in kitchen is well-equipped and features an original marble sink.

Wooden stairs lead up to a bedroom and anti-room with wooden mezzanine (offering possibility of an extra sleeping area), a second bedroom and bathroom, again with antique marble sink and shower.

Steps lead down to a large stone flagged terrace with stunning views, a vaulted area is used for storage and there is also a cellar.

There is an additional stone building with 3 rooms which has been partially restored and just requires finishing. One of the rooms is currently offered as the third bedroom, and there is potential for a further 1 or 2 bedroom in this building.

There is potential to install a swimming pool on the land subject to planning permission.

Connected to all main services and in good condition throughout.

DISTANCES Casola in Lunigiana with shop, bar and a local restaurant 5 km, Fivizzano 10 km, Aulla 22 km, beaches 40 km, Pisa (airport) 95 km.

Cà Martino is situated in a small village just 5 km from the municipality of Casola in Lunigiana which is a small town set on the hill above the Aulella river with the houses huddled around its central stone tower. Famous for its stone statues that date back to the Neolithic age and are thought to be gifts to the moon Goddess. There is a selection of shops and restaurants in the town, a chemist and in the neighbouring village a train station with direct trains to Lucca. There are beautiful views to the Apuan mountains and cobbled lanes lead from the town to the river.

Lunigiana (pronounced Loonee-janna) is a magical part of Tuscany starting with its name the ?Land of the Moon?. The hills that encircle Lunigiana create an intimate and relaxed atmosphere whilst the blend of the mountains and sea are extremely inviting to those who enjoy the outdoors. The rolling landscape is liberally sprinkled with castles of Medici or Malaspina vintage but for lovers of the coast the sea is only half-an-hours? drive away.

Lunigiana is special and has been likened to a magical kingdom. It is not only the breath-taking scenery with its abundance of medieval castles but you simply feel a huge sense of wellbeing radiating from the sunshine, glorious countryside, delicious food and wine, kind friendly locals and most importantly, from the sense of tradition and community amongst people here that is rarely seen in modern day life.

The golden sandy beaches around Lerici and the pebble coves of the Cinque Terre are ideal for swimming and sailing in the summer while the snow clad mountains offer skiing in the local resorts during the winter months and are each a short drive away. The area is criss-crossed with marked footpaths for walks to the hills and mountains. The airports of Pisa, Parma and Genova are all within an hours? drive.
