The lovely town of Lajatico, birth place of the tenor Andrea Boccelli is set in breathtaking countryside. The natural contours of the land have been used to create the Teatro del Silenzio where the singer holds a concert in July every year together with other internationally famous singers. This open air theatre, Il Teatro di Silenzio, was built especially to host this just once annual event and hence its name. The quintessential Tuscan countryside around Lajatico offer superb views and beautifully restored properties.

There is approx three hectare of land: two hectares of woodland and fields another one hectare of garden, vineyard, olive groves, fruit trees and a small lake. From the pontoon by the lake the views are extensive over the valley. It is possible to see the 'Teatro del Silenzio' where Andrea Boccelli (who is from Lajatico) hosts a concert with international opera stars each year. The location is private, but close to the village. The village is pretty and well-kept and has a very good restaurant (truffles are the specialty), a grocery shop, bank and a cafe/bar. The village is famous for the local Chestnut Festival and for the excellent regional olive oil.

The town is located in Valdera in Central Tuscany between Pisa and Florence, this colourful landscape of rolling hills dotted with medieval villages, castles and lanes flanked with tall dark green cypress trees epitomise the Tuscan landscape.

The area is scattered with historical towns and medieval villages, castles and country churches and a landscape with golden meadows of wheat dancing in the breeze, vineyards, olive groves and fields of sunflowers. Meandering through the countryside of Valdera you feel the vestiges of the mysterious Etruscan civilization. Here Andrea Boccelli was born and bred and it is in the heart of Valdera in Lajatico that the famous Teatro del Silenzio (the Theatre of Silence) where natural landscape creates a breathtaking setting and in the summer months some of the biggest names in opera come for a special performance. Casciana Terme has thermal waters and spa facilities and is a pretty town with piazzas and cafès serving the local wine. The città d’arte (cities of art) include Volterra, San Gimignano, Palaia and Florence.
