Ourique is a larger town is 20 minutes' drive away, with an excellent supermarket and en route you can visit Castro da Cola, an ancient settlement with a great restaurant, surrounded by lovely walking country. The Santa Clara Velha dam and nature reserve is of breath-taking beauty and has fishing, boating and other water-sports on the dam. You can also fly to Lisbon or Seville, both 2 hours away by car. Faro Airport 65km, one hour away, on the motorway.
