Full Description

A very spacious country house on a single level, with a large store space below, set on a plot of 6026m2 with glorious views of the countryside towards the South and stunning rocky mountain range to the North.

For anyone looking for a peaceful way of life in a comfortable, sturdy country house that they can adapt as they see fit, and maybe even work the land, this beautiful property is well worth considering.

Location
Located in a hamlet within 8 minutes’ drive of Periana, and within walking distance of a very popular country restaurant, Cortijo El Rubio is in a glorious, peaceful setting, with no immediate neighbours and a true sense of open space! It is approximately 35 minutes from the coast, and within one hour of Malaga.

The house and grounds
The plot is around 6,000m2 and is planted with a good variety of fruit trees, including ‘nisperos’, lemon, peach, apple, fig and a number of others. There is plenty of scope for planting more trees and for growing vegetables, and also plenty of space for creating a beautiful garden, close to the pool.

The pool, which is registered as a pool, was originally built as an ‘alberca’ or open water pool for irrigation and in fact it is still used to store the crystal clear mountain water from the area that is used for irrigation, and doubles as a pool in the summer. The house itself has a direct supply from the mountain water, via the mains water system.

The pool and surrounding area needs some work, as it is very simple and basic at present. However, the structure of the pool is solid, with no leaks, we are reliably informed, and so it could be repainted, or tiled, and the area around, which is made up of concrete, could be repaired and improved.

The entrance is directly from the concrete country lane that leads into the hamlet, and there is a large parking area for several cars.

The house, on one level, is comfortable and in very good condition. Perhaps for modern living, certain aspects could be changed, taking advantage both of the many partition (non-load-bearing) walls, and the large integrated garage/store, perhaps to create a bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, in addition to the current large family bathroom. And the kitchen is simple and old fashioned at present.

The door from the front leads into the large kitchen (4x4m), with a door leading beyond into an interior lobby area, with the family bathroom (3 x 2m) off this area. An arch leads to the centre of the house. Here we can head left, along a short corridor that leads to four good sized bedrooms (4 x 3m, 2.5 x 4m, 2.5 x 5m and 4 x 3m), and the integral garage or store room (4 x 4m). The garage has plumbing and this could be the ideal place to create that second bathroom, still leaving plenty of space for storage, or a workshop or studio.

Back in the centre of the house, a short corridor takes us to the rear door, passing quality wooden double doors with glass panes, to the right, leading into the living room (5 x 4m). All rooms enjoy glorious views.

The rear door leads into a delightful arched, covered terrace (13 x 2m) with wonderful views South and over the plot, and it continues around the far side of the house, leading out to a gate which joins back onto the car parking area, next to the garage doors.

Underneath the house is a very useful store area, spanning the entire length of the house, and around 2.5 to 3m deep.

A beautiful house, that with a little further improvement and modernisation, could become a stunning, comfortable country dwelling.
