The Villa was built in 1960 via the request of the famous Roman artist Lorenzo Vespignani, director of Rome's school of art, carving, painting, design, and illustrating.
In the 1990's Mr Vespignani sold the villa to his student, who built a modest delightful boutique hotel, he himself designed the frescos and mosaics in the hotel, which gives this gem, located in the historical park of the Etruscans, a uniqueness and exclusivity of its own. In 2002 the part of film "Pinocchio" directed by Roberto Benigni was shot in this villa.

BRACCIANO

The county of the Capital of Italy represents its complement due to multiple aspects.
The Spirituality, Villas and Castles, Land and Water, Parks and Natural Reserves, Archeology and, of course, Food and Wine.

A trio of charming towns - Bracciano, Trevignano and Anguillara - set on the shores of LAKE BRACCIANO together make for a full day or a relaxing weekend away from Rome. All three are different, but all are equally attractive.

Each town offers cosy old streets and nooks tended with great care by the residents, adorned with tastefully-arranged flowering shrubs, vines, and potted plants; Trevignano's old main street behind the monumental archway is the most accessible example, but the steep lanes between Bracciano's castle and the lake-view terrace are also worth a look. Bracciano has a commanding panorama of the lake from its lofty terrace, while Anguillara has a pleasant lakeside promenade for an afternoon stroll (and don't miss the old town, and the fortress ruins, up on the hill if you are looking for snapshots).

Bracciano is a small town in the Italian region of Lazio, 30 kilometres (19 miles) northwest of Rome. The town is famous for its volcanic lake (Lago di Bracciano the eighth largest lake in Italy) and for a particularly well-preserved medieval castle Castello Orsini-Odescalchi. The main monument of Bracciano is its castle, Castello Orsini-Odescalchi, one of the most noteworthy examples of Renaissance military architecture in Italy.

It may be a solid and tough edifice built for military purposes, but the period furnishings and the atmosphere are surprisingly charming and you can see why the castle has been the location for Italian celebrity weddings. The castle has hosted a number of events, especially weddings of actors and singers.

It was here that Hollywood stars Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes held their wedding party and a famous Italian singer Eros Ramazotti with Michelle Hunziker. It is regularly hired out for grand events like parties and corporate receptions.

The town is served by an urban railway (Line FR3) which connects it with Rome (stations of Ostiense and Valle Aurelia) in about 40 minutes. Close to it lie the two medieval towns of Anguillara Sabazia and Trevignano Romano.
The main economic activities are tourism, services and agriculture.

This is a good area for dining, as the local countryside produces a rich range of produce - fish and eels from the lake are local specialities, along with nuts and game from the surrounding countryside. In the piazza-cum-car park outside the castle entrance, there is a handful of places to eat and drink.

Italy... It's enough to read Goethe, Shelley, Gogol and Stendhal to take interest in it, but if you visit it on
