Sentinella is a jewel of a house, made of raw earth. It is located in
Casalincontrada in the province of Chieti, half an hour from the sea and
the ski slopes of the Maiella National Park, 10 minutes from the
historic centre of Chieti, shopping centres and a golf course. It enjoys
a wonderful view of the Gran Sasso mountains and, in fact, it is on the
site where a Roman garrison was once located, so it is a perfect
vantage point to view the whole valley.The
land, measuring around 7000 square metres, includes a small forest of
oaks and acacia trees, in which there is a "Yurt", a temporary dwelling
for nomadic people, built by the owner during the restoration works.
There are also eight century-old olive trees and various fruit plants.The
house has recently been restored with the construction technique called
"massone", similar, in Europe, to ‘the cob and the bauge’ - it is very
widespread in Abruzzo and Le Marche, areas where land contains a good
percentage (40-50 %) of clay.  This technique consists of the
construction of buildings through the simple overlapping of small
"loaves" of wet earth often mixed with straw. The resulting wall, once
dry, is a continuous structure, compact and without cavities, thanks to
the fusion of the single constituent elements.The
owner, in the realization of the restoration project, has adopted the
criterion of maintaining the original soul of the building, and he has
also increased the size of the property. The
house measures a total of ??125 square metres, 35sqm. of external
space, while its net surface is 77sqm.  All bedrooms have dual air
conditioning, Wi-Fi and TV.  Composition:
entrance to living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and porch on the
ground floor. A beautiful internal staircase leads to the first floor
where we find two bedrooms with bathroom, panoramic terrace and loggia.From
the point of view of energy sources, the house is equipped with
photovoltaic panels. Rainwater is collected in a tank for use in the
garden.It is currently successfully used as a guest house.  Of course the property is sold including the business.
