This attractive stone village cottage was originally renovated around 20 years ago but needs modernisation. There is a large sitting room with open fireplace, and dining room, one bedroom on the ground floor, another mezzanine bedroom, a fitted kitchen looking over the terrace and pool area, a large sitting room, and two bathrooms and WCs. In addition, there are outbuildings which could become further bedrooms. Across the lane there is a little supplementary cottage (no water or electricity) with a woodburning stove, which could become further guest accommodation.
There is a small terrace which is by the summer kitchen, and then you go out into the garden, which is very pretty, and has a good-sized pool and deck area. The pool area is surrounded by stone walls, which gives it a great cachet.
This house is set in a pretty hamlet, surrounded by the rolling hills of the garrigue. It is 5 miles to the nearest shop, but then you are just a few minutes from the large town of Alès. Alès has all the conveniences, shops, supermarkets, DIY, theatre and cinema, restaurants and bars. In summer there is even a beach here! At the same time you are just 14 miles from Uzès (25 minutes), with its popular Saturday market and chic restaurants, and 30 miles from Bollène, where you can get the motorway. Nimes, with the airport, is 30 miles away.
Weekly markets offer locally sourced farm produce in the nearby towns, several of which also hold medieval and antiques festivals. Swimming is popular in isolated and magical surrounding rivers, and other outdoor activities include horse-riding, kayaking, cycling and mountain climbing. There are many fascinating cities to visit, including Nîmes, Avignon, Anduze, Alès, Uzès, Montpellier and Marseille, and there is the Mediterranean coast at Grau-du-Roi, Sainte Marie de la Mer and the Camargue
