Park Information:
This family-owned park is open all year, surrounded by lovely countryside, with meadows full of wildflowers & grazing cattle, and where sheep feed on the local salt marshes.
It has fabulous facilities including a brand new swimming pool (outdoor & indoor), a hammam & sauna, a restaurant /bar with full three-course menus, but also take away food. There is a shop which bakes fresh bread on a daily basis. An added attraction is a fishing lake in the centre of the park with resident ducks. The plots are spacious & well spaced, the park will supply decking to any specification, built by their own team. There has been massive landscaping of the park as it is newly established, with shrubs, trees & hedges planted.
A short 10 minutes’ walk takes you to the nearest charming village complete with a farm shop, butchers/charcutier, a tea room/art gallery, hairdressers and a station with direct links to Calais. There is also a memory of the 1st World War in a cemetery in the village, of Chinese workers who helped the British build military infrastructures.
St Valéry sur Somme is only 20 minutes by car – a beautiful coastal port with a marina, cobbled streets full of chic restaurants & shops, with a very large market on Sunday mornings selling local fish, vegetables, cheeses, & flowers amongst the hundred or so stalls. There are medieval ramparts in the town with incredible views over the Bay. A museum of 19th century Picardy life can be visited in the town. There is also a steam railway with 4 stations which runs from February to late November in between St Valéry & Cayeux sur Mer.
You can take boat trips to view the seal colony that depart from the quayside at St Valéry – also available is a 2-hour boat trip around the Bay of the Somme ports, Le Crotoy & Le Hourdel. The Bay of the Somme has 3000 hectares of National Nature Reserve, with over 400 species of wild birds – a magnet for ornithologists – a colony of seals & 44 km of cycle paths for outdoor enthusiasts. This is truly a rural paradise –
Not far away is Le Crotoy, on the opposite side of the Bay, a fishing port with traditional houses originally built for fishermen, many of which are now holiday homes – the town became famous due to the perfumier Guerlain whose patronage of the town attracted wealthy Parisians to make it their holiday destination.
Within 30 minutes of the park is Quend Plage with its long sandy beach & Fort Mahon famous for sand yachting & an impressive water centre “Aqua Club” with wave machines, aquagym etc.
