The Area and Access
The property is in St Colombe sur l’Hers – it has a Post Office that doubles as village store / off licence, two bars, a local baker at Chalabre – who is excellent and is renowned locally – delivers to the village store each morning and the Mayer and the Mayoral team are all seriously nice people.

Ste Colombe has many social activities; the village is a member of the Musique en Kercorb festival, which presents high quality, mainly classical, concerts each week during the summer in five different villages, followed by an apéro or a picnic dinner…. plus it is less than 10 mins by car to our village – Chalabre – which has schools/ doctor / dentist / shops / and a farmers market each Saturday morning… complete with candle maker … actually he mostly sells honey but also makes candles from the wax ( they smell wonderful – and don’t drip ).

With Lac de Montbel at only 10 minutes by car, this location can’t be beaten. It is also known for its lakes, mountains, winding country roads and excellent weather, this part of France at the frontier between the Aude and the Ariège departments has been a vacation heaven for years! Biking, hiking, skiing, boating, and beach access are all within easy striking distance .
