PERFECT AS AHOLIDAY HOME OR INVESTMENT FOR RENTAL

Fuengirola is located just 25km west of Malaga and is easily accessible by road, bus or train and is a popular tourist and residential area. Fuengirola has a population of 75,953 inhabitants with an average yearly temperature of 18 degrees and an average yearly rainfall of 570mm. The main reasons for its popularity is its location and proximity to the resorts of Benalmadena and Torremolinos to the east and the resorts of Mijas Costa and Marbella to the west, just over 35km away. It also has 8km of coastline of which is mostly uninterrupted beaches of which there are 7, one being a blue flag beach. Fuengirola offers an array of shops, bars and restaurants as well as shopping and commercial centres. For entertainment there are multi-screen cinemas, a water park, naturalistic zoo, skateboard park, go-karting, water sports, boat trips, theatres, kids mini-park, historic castle, crazy golf and more to keep both the adults and the children occupied.

The areas of Los Boliches and Torreblanca are busy areas in their own right but offer a less fast pace of life. The high street and side streets in Los Boliches provides a gluttony of little bars, restaurants not only offering international drinks and cuisine but that of quality local produce and has its very own identity. Torreblanca is very frontline orientated but not to the extreme of its neighbouring areas where sitting out enjoying a drink or a meal looking out over the Mediterranean is a customary act. Both of these areas have a train station.

Mijas Pueblo or known locally as the white village sits in the foothills of the Mijas Mountains some 428m above sea level. The village provides some of the most stunning and breath-taking views of the surrounding areas down to the coast, inland and the rugged rocky landscape.

The village is not only very popular with tourists visiting for the day or vacationing in the village but with local residents from nearby towns and villages. The attraction of Mijas Pueblo is the authenticity the village provides of the Spanish way of life from the cobbled streets, white washed walls and array of artisan shops and boutiques to the many traditional festivals celebrated from the main plaza (square) sat centrally in the village.

Mijas Costa is the stretch of coastline that lies in between the boundaries of Fuengirola and Marbella. Most of this stretch of land has been urbanised and includes the resorts of El Faro, El Chaperral, La Cala de Mijas, Riviera del Sol, Calahonda and Sitio de Calahonda. Sitio de Calahonda is the largest urbanisation on this part of the costa and Calahonda beach is the largest beach in the Mijas municipality covering 4.5km of coastline. The coastal bus service links all of these resorts and within Mijas Costa there are 12 golf courses. On its border with Fuengirola lies the Miramar shopping centre and the water park.

El Faro sits on a peninsular and is just a few kilometres from Fuengirola and 28km from Malaga International Airport and is known to the locals for its lighthouse that stands over the peninsula’s point. There is some rocky coastline; hence the lighthouse but either side there are pleasant sandy beaches. This is a popular spot for surfers. The resort is supported by a few Chiringuittos (beach bars) and a number of bars and restaurants can be found either side of the main road at El Faro Playa. It is mainly an urbanised residential area that is very popular with self-catering apartment/villa holidays. For a livelier pace of life, Fuengirola is just a short walk away or a bit of a further walk in the opposite direction is La Cala de Mijas.

El Chaparral is a small resort and the urbanisations are built around the El Chaparral golf course and it is 30km from Malaga International Airport. It is one of the quieter tourist destinations but a great destination for the golf enthusiast. There is a number of self-catering holiday apartments/villas and most are a short walk to the beach where there are plenty of sun beds and a beach restaurant. There are a few bars and restaurants but for a wider selection Fuengirola is just a 15 minute walk away and a 10 minute walk away in the opposition is La Cala de Mija. El Chaparral is a great place to relax, sunbathe, explore and walk.

La Cala de Mijas is at the centre of Mijas Costa and is only 31km from Malaga International Airport. Originally a small fishing village, La Cala has grown over the past 10 – 15 years into a small thriving town but has still maintained its Spanish village appeal which attracts many foreign tourists and residents. La Cala’s development has led to a vastly improved infrastructure with the introduction of a health centre and a number of new schools. There is also a golf course. Sitio de Calahonda actually falls in the boundaries of La Cala de Mijas.
