The village of Contes is in the valley of Paillon and consists of three hamlets, the Sclos, Vernéa and Pointe. Contes is one of the oldest villages in the country of Nice.
Dominating the rest of the village, the old town of Contes still stands proudly on its rocky outcrop. From its long history, Contes retains its ramparts, vestiges of a time when it was necessary to constantly watch the coast and the attacks of pirates and barbarians. The East Tower is also one of the elements of the ramparts, which became the bell tower of the Sainte-Marie-Madeleine church in the 16th century. In front of this church, you will find a beautiful wash-house dating also from the Renaissance period.
The village itself has an Italian charm, you walk in small streets passing under covered passages, we admire beautiful trompe-l'?ils and arcades that line them. Arrived at the top of the village, one has the pleasure to discover a superb panorama on the valley and the surroundings (Mount Férion and Mont Macaron).
