Calypso is situated between Riviera del Sol and Calahonda. Riviera del Sol is located a few kilometres from La Cala de Mijas and 33km from Malaga International Airport. The 200 store La Canada shopping centre that has a number of bars and restaurants is less than 20km away. The beach is quieter than that of its neighbouring resorts and has a Chiringuito supplying food and drinks. There is a golf course situated in this resort. Just off the main coastal road is the commercial centre of the resort housing a number of bars and restaurants and a supermarket. There is a good selection of bars and restaurants in the area and some more localised establishments closer to the urbanisations situated further from the centre of the resort.

Calahonda with its beach stretching 4.5km is situated 35km from Malaga International Airport. The resort has grown less aggressively than that of some of its neighbouring resorts due to building restrictions on green land and limitations on apartment developments has allowed Calahonda to maintain most of its charm.

The resort is mainly made up of villas and townhouses and has 3 commercial centres that contain most of Calahondas nightlife of bars and restaurants as well as supermarkets, banks and retail outlets. There are 10 golf courses within 10km of Calahonda and is home to 4 of its own. Having the largest beach on the Mijas Costa makes Calahonda a popular tourist and residential destination. The beach has been awarded a blue flag. Along the beach there are plenty of bars and restaurants and it is great for seasonal water sports.
