THE AREA

Georgioupolis is a small seaside town easily accessible from the National Road and providing excellent connections by public transport. It set in a green countryside with a large beach stretching east and west of the village.
It used to be a small fishing village till the late eighties when it was discovered by the first holidaymakers who transformed it into a popular holiday resort.

The River Almyros meets the sea at Georgioupolis. Just before the town, it forms a little lake that is home to many birds and animals. From the square you walk to the scenic fishing harbor, just a five minutes' walk down the road lined with eucalyptus trees.

The most popular sight in the harbor is the chapel of Agios Nikolaos, set on a manmade rock jetty. It's worth walking along to take wonderful pictures, the scenery is amazing.
