The area is in the centre of the national park area of Le Parc Naturel Régional Périgord-Limousin, a region known as the Perigord Vert because of its beautiful natural landscapes which include many forests and a lot of lakes. As such, it is very popular with people looking for walking and cycling holidays and the chance to escape from the stress of every day life.

The village is approximately mid way between the important cities of Angouleme and Limoges. Limoges has in international airport which can be reached in around three quarters of an hour, while Angouleme has a TGV connection to Paris and Bordeaux. The nearest shopping is a ten minute drive away.
