Full Description

A simply stunning, beautiful, rustic style country cortijo, oozing with charm, character features and original details, and yet highly comfortable and in immaculate condition, set in beautiful gardens, a wonderful original ‘era’ or stone threshing circle, and a delightful pool and jacuzzi joined by a waterfall!

This is the type of property in the countryside in Andalusia that people can only dream of, and this one is now on the market at a realistic price for the right buyer.

Located just outside a tiny rural hamlet, and 2.8Kms from the village of Periana, with stunning views all around, this lovely old cortijo (first recorded in 1970 but probably much older) has excellent access, with no dirt track.

The drive, through wooden gates, permits parking for several cars, with a small store room building at the far end of the parking area. The land, around 3,000m2, rises very gently up the hill, and is mainly left to nature, but would be ideal for animals, or even a horse paddock. The rest of the property is beautiful country gardens and the house.

The house has a traditional facade, with a terrace to the front, covered with a mature grape vine for wonderful natural shade, losing its leaves in Winter, exposing this area to the sunshine when most wanted. Here, a table and chairs under the dappled shade provide a perfect place to eat, relax and entertain. To the far end of this terrace (which is around 11 x 3.5m), double wooden doors lead to two useful store rooms and a utility and laundry room, buildings that were once for keeping animals.

The front door leads into the living room (5.5 x 3.2m). There are rustic floors and beamed ceilings in every room in this house, and the living room has an original fireplace to the left hand end of the room, with a wood burner set within it.

To the right hand end of the living room is a door to the dining room, (3 x 3m) with window to the front and the original corner fireplace (just needs a wood burner and flu installing in it to use), and from here, a few steps lead up, and under a pretty brick arch, into the kitchen. The kitchen (4.8 x 3.8m) is fully fitted and modern, but with rustic features such as a shelving unit to the far end, with rustic brick arches. A door from the kitchen leads out to the side terrace, ideal for morning coffee! From the side terrace (3.5 x 3m) is access to the land, and along a path to the rear garden and pool area. A wooden door from the kitchen also leads to one of the two bathrooms.

Back in the living room, at the far left hand end, a short corridor leads to the bedrooms and bathrooms. A few steps lead up to bedroom 1 (3.5 x 3.5m), formerly the hayloft, now a delightful double bedroom with window over a lovely mountain and country view. Also accessed from here is the family bathroom (2.3 x 2m) with bath and overhead shower. Opposite, up a couple of steps are bedrooms 2 and 3. Bedroom 3 is 3 x 3m, but large enough to fit a standard double bed. From bedroom 2, also around 3 x 3m, a few steps lead up to the ensuite shower room, (2.2 x 1.6m) with corner shower cubicle with glass brick feature, which also has a door leading into the kitchen.

Everywhere one looks in this delightful house there is beauty, and stunning views from all windows. It is cool in the hot summer months and the thick walls keep in the heat in Winter.

Walking around the side of the house, along pretty paths and past a pentanque area, we reach the rear gardens, that are completely private and very beautiful, with plenty of flowering plants, bushes and fruit trees. The pool is a beautiful additional feature to this perfect house! A bubbling, cold water jacuzzi (not a pre-fabricated one) gushes water out and into the small but perfect pool just below, and the turquoise colour of the water compliments the colourful, flowering gardens, and the immaculate, fully restored, stone threshing circle or ‘era’ just above it. The current owners have installed a wooden pergola in the shadiest corner of the ‘era’, where one can relax on a sun lounger at the table in the shade or sip a glass of wine in the evening, contemplating the spectacular mountain views all around! There is a also a built in barbecue area.

A most delightful house, ideal as a permanent home or a holiday home. This will not be long on the market and an early viewing is recommended.
